KIEFER & KIEFER FILES SUIT ON BEHALF OF MOTHER WHO WAS DENIED LIFE INSURANCE BENEFITS AFTER HER SON WAS MURDERED

Kiefer & Kiefer has filed a lawsuit in the Civil District Court for the Parish of Orleans.

We represent a mother who was approached by an insurance agent to take out a life insurance policy on her son, who was in his 20s due to the high prevalence of gun violence in New Orleans. She would later find out that the policy was written by a multi-level marketing company who sells insurance.  Unfortunately, her son was a victim of gun violence in New Orleans.  When she went to secure her benefits under his life insurance policy to help pay for funeral expenses, instead of paying the benefits that this grieving money paid for, the company immediately launched an investigation in an attempt to deny her claim, which they did, based on frivolous grounds.

Our client hired us to fight the company, and we filed suit in Civil District Court for the Parish of Orleans.  The insurance company removed the case to federal court, and Kiefer & Kiefer is currently fighting for the case to be remanded back to New Orleans, where it belongs..

We have discussed how insurance companies try to find ways to deny life insurance policies in other blog posts.  Read https://www.kieferandkiefer.com/can-an-insurance-company-deny-my-life-insurance-benefits/” for more information on these cases and your rights if an insurance company wrongfully denies your life insurance claim.

This case is being handled by our partner, Megan Kiefer along with attorney, Louis Thomas, III.
