ARE COURTS CLOSED BECAUSE OF COVID-19; WHAT’S GOING ON WITH MY CASE?

While everyone’s most pressing concern is the health and safety of their family and friends from COVID 19, it is only natural to look ahead to when things get back to some semblance of normal. A number of clients have reached out asking us if the Courts are open and how this crisis is affecting their cases.

Our clients can rest assured, our office continues to operate at full capacity and we are working on their cases daily; albeit remotely. Having learned from previous disasters, Kiefer & Kiefer was able to continue work on your files without any downtime, through our remote access system and by accessing our digital filing system.

While many, if not all nonessential doctor’s visits have been canceled, we are working hard to coordinate remote doctor’s visits to ensure our clients get the medical care they need.

Finally, while the Courts are not physically open, we are able to digitally access the majority of local courts and are able to make any and all necessary filings. Specifically, we have digital access to Orleans Civil District Court and the 24th Judicial District Court for the Parish of Jefferson. During this week or so quarantine period alone, we have filed new lawsuits, settled cases with adjusters, filed Motions, dismissed lawsuits, and settled a client’s back injury case at a virtual mediation. Rest assured, we are moving your files along!

We hope everyone and their families remain safe and healthy during this trying time. Please follow the recommendations of our health care experts, by practicing social distancing, washing your hands, and remaining home if at all possible. We look forward to more normal times, and to being able to continue providing our clients with the highest level of service at all times.

You can reach us at the office, by email, or on our cell phones. If you cannot locate this information, just fill out this form, and one of us will be in touch.
